When I think it could be nicer being nice, or kind or bold-

or something much more forgiving like that.

It's not easy being mean.

It seems you blend in with so many other awful things.

And people tend to run away from you 'cause you're not helping them herd their cows-

or water their fields.

But mean's the way I’ve gotta be.

And mean can be fierce and defendy-like.

And mean can be big like a mammoth, or important like a captain, or safe like a keep.

When mean is all there is to be

It could make you wonder why, but why wonder? Why Wonder, I’m mean and it'll do fine, it's passable,

But I think it’s not all I want to be.
